THE MARKET - While the decadent fare and hospitality at Peninsula Grill shine, one of the biggest stars is the multilayer coconut cake. Cafecito offers Cuban coffee drinks, mango iced tea, guava pastries, empanadas, and Cubanos. UPPER KING - After moving to Charleston from Miami, Kathy and Lane Atkins missed the Cuban cafes of their hometown, so they built one. Expect whiskey, tacos, quesadillas, tequila, and chicken fingers. It’s an Irish pub mixed with a Mexican cantina. ĮAST SIDE - Entrepreneur Chris “Boston” DiMattia (Recovery Room and Bangkok Lounge) has another dive bar in his portfolio with the opening of Lucky Luchador. The new establishment is only open on Saturdays (for now), but the bakeshop puts out a stellar selection of croissants, benne seed loaves, kolaches, cookies, and more. NORTH CENTRAL - Chefs Zachary and Hannah Welton make some of the best pizza in Charleston with their wood-fired pop-ups, and now they are bringing more dough to Charleston with the opening of King Street storefront Welton’s Tiny Bakery. Iron Rose serves new American and updated Southern cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.


The addition replaces the former Barbadoes Room. įRENCH QUARTER - Meeting Street hotel Mills House recently revealed a modern makeover and new restaurant Iron Rose. The menu ranges from avocado toast to Italian sandwiches. The space will serve breakfast, lunch, cocktails, beer, and wine. The Saint Philip Street address has been meticulously renovated from its previous life as a funeral home and art gallery it now features a bar, table seating, and a commerce area. This is the second location for the concept, with the first on Johns Island. ĬANNONBOROUGH/ELLIOTBOROUGH - All-day cafe Island Provisions will open on Saturday, October 29.
